I write because the stories in my head won’t leave me alone until I write them. My stories are like persistent, adorable puppies that head-butt me if I ignore them. I want to create stories that engage, entertain, and deliver their message via harmonica, not sledgehammer.

I am not a disciplined writer. Here is a drawing of my writing process.

Author Bio

Ellie Kirk is the author of ELEANOR THE COOK and BONNIE THE BEE CHARMER AND THE FAIRE OF WORLDS. Born and raised in the Philadelphia suburbs, Ellie wrote her first short story when she was seven, saw her first live musical when she was eleven, and has been in love with theater and literature ever since. Her performing and writing experience came in handy when she got her first job as a business-skills trainer and later as an instructional designer.

Ellie now lives at the southernmost tip of New Jersey and spends as much time as possible at the beach where she rescues stranded horseshoe crabs, picks up litter, and pets a lot of dogs. Ellie loves gardening and photography, and she makes the best homemade cannoli in all the land (shells and filling!). You can see what she's up to on Facebook and Instagram.
